When is the last time you took a real good look at your roof? Your roof is what protects your home from all of the elements and shelters your family. After a bad storm, it is recommended to have a professional roof inspection to assess any damages that may have been caused by mother nature. Catching any damage caused by the storm quickly allows you to make repairs before they become a much larger issue.
Some of the main causes of damage to your roof include hail, strong winds and heavy rains. Hail can range in size from marbles, to golf balls, to baseballs. The force at which hail falls can damage a vehicle so you can imagine the toll that it can take on your roof. It can damage the metal flashing on your roof that can lead to large water leaks. Strong winds can also cause damage to your roof. Strong winds can blow the shingles off your roof leaving exposed areas that can cause mold, roof rot, water leaks and insulation damage. Another issue that comes from strong winds is the potential for trees to fall. A tree falling on your roof can cause the roof to open allowing large amounts of water to get in and damage
your personal items. Heavy rain for a long period of time can cause the shingles on your roof to become loose and eventually to come off leaving exposed areas.
If you have damage to your roof, you may be able to file a claim with your insurance company and have them cover the cost of the repairs. Insurance companies can be frustrating to deal with that is why you should get a professional out to evaluate the damage and help you provide everything you need to file your claim with the insurance company.
Being proactive with an annual roof inspection can save you a lot of money and give you peace of mind that your family is being protected.

Today 7/31/24 we had a visit from Jim the owner of Veritas Roofing and he inspected our roof for damage. He gave us a clean bill of health and said that we had at least another 15 years left on our roof. We were so releived as we have roofers repairing at least 1/3 of the roofs in our community. On our block of ten houses 4 houses have had there roof replaced. The homes on our block were built 7 years ago. I say this because so many roofs have had new roofing in our community (monkey see monkey do) that I truly believe because the insurance companies pay for the repairs they all believe their roofs need repair.
Make sure that the roofing company that you choose has years of experience and is familiar with the different types of roof repair and construction.
